Feel Good Friday: The 7-Day Self-Care Challenge
Happy Feel Good Friday! Something new I am starting as of TODAY. Keep reading to learn more about the challenge to love yourself.
Today, we're diving into a special self-care challenge that's all about nurturing your body, mind, and soul. Life can be hectic, and we often forget to prioritize our own well-being. But self-care is essential to rekindle your inner strength, boost your confidence, and celebrate your unique beauty.
Are you ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-love? Let's kickstart your weekend with the Feel Good Friday 7-Day Self-Care Challenge!
Day 1: Mirror Affirmations
This one is going to feel awkward and that is why it’s challenging. You may think there is nothing about yourself that you love, also why this is a challenge. I want you to stand in front of a mirror, look into your own eyes, and say three positive affirmations about yourself. Celebrate your beauty, your strength, and your uniqueness. Embrace the power of self-love. I don’t care if you don’t believe it yet… Because you will believe it eventually.
Day 2: Pamper Your Body
Treat yourself to a relaxing bath or shower. Use your favorite scents, pamper your skin, and take your time. Is there a special exfoliant you like to use, but rarely have time for? Is there some expensive lotion you rarely use that makes you feel as though you are wrapped in a silky embrace? Maybe you have a face mask you’ve been meaning to use but just haven’t yet… Use it. Or, maybe you need a pedicure! I know for me, I neglect my feet too often, so a pedicure for me would be pampering my body. I also know I need to get regular massages… Remember, self-care is about feeling good from the inside out.
Day 3: Mindful Moments
Take a few minutes to meditate or practice deep breathing. Clear your mind and focus on the present moment. Mindfulness can help reduce stress and boost your confidence. Did you know that deep breathing and meditating has profound and extraordinary effects on your overall health and well-being, too? I encourage you to do some research on this topic. It can improve sleep, boost mood, relieve anxiety, promote creativity and memory, and more.
When you are practicing meditation, it can be extremely hard to clear your mind if you are an anxious person like myself. A huge tip: Use words like “I AM” “I HAVE” “I GET” as if the things you want, the things you desire most, the feelings you want to feel, are ALREADY happening. Meditate as if those things/feelings/thoughts are actually your reality, and eventually, they will become your reality. For example: “I am rich and I am the healthiest version of myself. I am sitting in my beautiful yard overlooking a gorgeous lake in Italy enjoying a cup of the most perfectly made coffee with my supportive and healthy husband…” You get the point.
Meditation can also be simply emptying your mind entirely. Focusing on the birds, the crickets, the rain. Being totally present in the moment. Feeling your body. Do you have any aches and pains in this moment? Let your body rest, and completely succumb to rest. Don’t forget to keep breathing, deeply, in through your nose, and out through your mouth. How does it feel?
Day 4: Creative Expression
Express yourself creatively today. Whether it's through painting, writing, dancing, or any other form of art, let your creativity flow. Embrace your inner artist! I personally love my Diamond Dotz my bestie got me, or my paint by numbers canvas!
Day 5: Gratitude Journaling
Write down five things you're grateful for today. Reflecting on the positives in your life can help you feel more empowered and content. I really love my journal by The Happy Planner (link: www.thehappyplanner.com). In this journal, not only do you write down things/people you are grateful for, but there are prompts for your goals, how to achieve the goals, milestones, positive quotes and affirmations, etc. You could also just use a regular notebook too and “brain dump” after you write out the five things you are grateful for. I find that to be very therapeutic and helpful.
Day 6: Connect with Nature
This right here is a big one for me. It is my opinion that we are supposed to be connected to our Earth. Technology has created a huge divide, and the comforts of our lifestyle these days leave us with empty spaces in our souls. We are collectively more anxious, more depressed, because we have lost that simple and natural connection to our planet. We eat heavily processed foods, and spend the majority of our time indoors. My challenge for you today on Day 6 is to reconnect with nature. Spend some time outdoors. Whether it’s a walk in the park or simply sitting outside in your garden, connect with the beauty of nature. Its a reminder of the beauty within you (and all of the magic, too). Maybe forage for berries (safely, please, do your research), or buy some whole food from your local farmers market. Anything to reconnect, and enjoy the tranquility of our planet earth.
Day 7: Compliment Yourself in a Letter to You
Today, your challenge is to write a heartfelt letter to yourself. List all the things you love about yourself, your achievements, and your dreams. Be your own biggest fan. Keep this somewhere close, maybe under your pillow, and reread it in moments of anxiety, dread, or sadness.
