Preparing for your Boudoir Experience!
Booking a boudoir experience can be nerve wracking, but don’t worry! I have you covered!
I know you’re probably thinking, “So, now what?” No worries, I'm here to answer all the most frequently asked questions for you and hopefully ease your mind and help you feel prepared for your session.
Here’s a little about what you can expect during your boudoir session with me!
I'm guessing you're nervous for your upcoming session.. Most clients are! You're not alone, I swear! It's 100% normal to have some nerves, considering you've just decided to be completely vulnerable with a stranger. I get it, I wouldn't expect anything less, actually! I'm here to reassure you and walk you through the basics of what a boudoir session with me is like and what you can expect every step of the way.
First things first, the morning of your session you'll arrive at the studio location at 10:00AM sharp! The location is Brick Street Studio, 415 W Main St. Ionia, MI 48846. Please arrive with a clean face and clean, dry hair.
The studio is large and has plenty of natural light that will make you look amazing! It has hardwood floors, and we are able to use any of the studio's unique vintage inspired furniture, props, etc to give your session some variety. We'll start your session by chatting about outfits and what you plan to wear for your session. We will look over any options you brought with you, and decide which to start with. After we have chosen the best outfits that flatter your figure and make you feel confident and sexy, we will start super easy! I always start all my boudoir sessions off with a famous booty shot to get you used to my posing prompts and the sound of the camera clicking without having to think about your facial expressions right away.
Question: I don’t know how to pose! Will you help me?
One of the most frequently asked questions is "I don't know how to
pose! Will you help me?" and the answer is YES! I pose my clients 100% the entire time, seriously from your hair to your toes. It will not be left up to you to figure out how to pose. I pride myself in having done lots of research and lots of practice with posing any and all body types. I know what angles and poses will look best.. That's what I'm here for! Relax.
Question: Do I do my own hair and makeup?
Hair and makeup is included in each package. I work with a group of fantastic hair and makeup artists at Salon 6, and also have worked with Marki Keusch out of Lansing. However, hair and makeup is not required if you wish to do your own. Whatever you're comfortable with is fine with me! It is included in the package price at no additional cost to you, so please note that pricing does not decrease if you opt for no hair and makeup.
Question: Should I wax or spray tan?
When it comes to waxing and spray tans, I always encourage clients to only do something they are used to doing. If you get waxed regularly and know how your body will react, go for it! If not, I suggest avoiding it. We dont get super upclose and personal in those areas usually and most stray hairs can be edited out. However, super red rashes and/or burns cannot be retouched very easily and could make for not so pleasant posing for you as well. When it comes to spray tans, I recommend NOT using a booth or self tanner. Always use a technician that hand sprays you and that is highly recommended. Remember, crease lines/tan lines can be really difficult to remove from photos.
Question: How long will my session last?
Your session (if not a mini) will last about 60-90 minutes. I've found that this time limit is perfect for choosing outfits, changing and getting just enough variety of outfits, poses and set ups for you to have plenty of images to choose from!
Question: What should I wear?
Helping clients choose their outfits is one of my favorite parts! The options are seriously ENDLESS! I love black and white, they are staples! But you really cannot go wrong with an emerald green, red, or pink. Honestly, we can work together to choose what you like best and what will look best on you! I 100% recommend at least getting ONE bodysuit for your session. It will change your life! You can also incorporate some of your own personal style/hobbies into your session and I'll do my best to work with whatever you bring with you. Below are a few of my favorite styles for clients to wear during their boudoir session.

Just a few last tips:
To make sure you're comfortable at your session: Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your session. Stretch! You will likely be tired and feel a little sore after your session. This is normal, but please try to reduce it as much as possible by stretching leading up to your session. I have included a few recommended stretches below. Wear some loose fitting clothes the morning of to make sure you don't have any unwanted marks on your skin from tight fitted clothing (this includes bras). Most of all, RELAX! You're in good hands! I hope this guide helped to ease your mind and get you excited for your session! I can’t wait to help you plan and encourage you to reach out with any other questions or concerns! Your boudoir session is going to be unforgettable! All of the recommended stretches are also given in your preparation guide once you book!
