Although it doesn’t officially begin for a few more weeks, once Memorial Day is here, most of us begin to celebrate the summer season. This is a time when many women start feeling self-conscious about their bodies. Bathing Suit Season can be trepidatious for women from all walks of life. This summer, instead of focusing on perceived flaws, what if we embrace what makes us each uniquely beautiful?

As a boudoir photographer in Michigan, I’ve seen firsthand the powerful shift that happens when women– especially those in their 30s and 40s who have overlooked their own identity for years in order to care for everybody else– take a moment to honor themselves. At this stage of life, moms have been putting themselves last for so long, they hardly remember who they were before motherhood.
